Hey everyone! Hope you’re enjoying some fall-like weather wherever you are. Here in Laredo it’s been a couple of days of cooler temps, but today we’re supposed to jump right back up into the 90s!
I want to update you all briefly on the happenings in the Amazon since our last update in July…
Grace House Amazon
Grace House continues to grow and transform lives. We are praying diligently for the Lord to bring more volunteers and resources to allow us to function more efficiently and to meet the many needs that arise daily.
Carla continues to work at Grace House every day and Rosa is speaking into her life, teaching her about the Love of Jesus. Please continue to pray for her!
She was able to save up for a motorcycle and a special donation came in for her that allowed her to purchase some other items she needed for her and her kids. Please also pray for her oldest daughter, Carine, who is now pregnant and moved away to Manaus. This was very hard on Carla. Pray for her to return and for us to have the opportunity to love on her and speak into her life as well.
Earlier in September, Maricleia fell and broke her foot. She will go for a follow-up later this month to see how it is healing. Unfortunately, the medical care in the region is sub-par at best so the person who originally looked at her foot and casted it, did not do things correctly. Please pray that there are no long-term effects from this injury.
Ever since June, Nickson (who is a biological sibling for the three other kids at Grace House) has also joined our family! He is rooming with Cairara and Frankie, but space was VERY tight. A generous donor gave a special gift that allowed us to purchase new bedding for him which also freed up space for the other boys. We are happy to report that over-all he is doing well. He is even learning to read and is attending school for the first time! Please pray for him!
The Donut Company
This month we celebrate TWO YEARS at The Donut Company! We are so thankful for this journey of faith that the Lord has brought us on! Please continue to pray for each of our employees: Bea, Priscila, Sandra, and Andres as well as our missionaries Jhon Barrios and Sam. Each of them are an essential part of our team!
Jhon Barrios joined us as our Legal Representative back in March and has been working diligently and tirelessly to help us get more organized as well as speaking consistently into the lives of each of our employees. He and his family continue to work with their indigenous community, Guanabara III, on the weekends.
Pray for this Gospel-based business initiative as we pray for open doors and wisdom in decision making so we can create more job opportunities and wisely invest in the lives of our employees.
Pray for Sam and Bea as they are leaders in the shop. Pray for strength, wisdom, and patience as they face various trials.
Pray for Priscila as she is back in a very bad situation with her husband. Sam and Bea continue to speak into her life with the desire to see her freed from a lot of bondage she is still in.
Marcos and Josi continue to faithfully serve the young indigenous boys that they have taken in, despite immense hardships. They have 15 boys that they are investing in daily. Pray for them!!
Because the situation and information about Marcos and Josi is sensitive in nature, we do not publish much about their ministry. But we do have information and resources available. If you are interested in knowing more, including watching a professional video about Marcos that a friend of ours created, please contact us personally. We are currently working to raise $1,500 a month to better support their incredible work with unreached tribes. THIS is how we will be able to reach the unreached in the Javari Valley of Brazil.
Thanks to some generous donors, we were able to provide them with two Sawyer water filtration/purification systems as well as help cover some medical expenses they incurred do to water-borne illness. Thank you to those who gave!!
We have had a couple of people generously offer to help us raise funds this summer… thank you!! We raised almost $1,500 through a Young Living/Thirty-One gifts fundraiser as well as an Usborne Books and More fundraiser!
If you sell a product and would be interested in using it as a way to help us provide financially for these ministries, please contact me! I’d love to talk more about it!
Another friend recently launched a fair-trade clothing company in which 10% of the profits from the Made in the USA line go to support Grace House Amazon. You can shop there to help support the work: www.saltandlighttradingco.com.
Chosen Arrow Designs is participating in several seasonal markets to help raise awareness and funds for the Amazon Network!
As always, you can also shop our Chosen Arrow Designs, where 100% of the profit goes to the Amazon Network. Check it out at www.etsy.com/chosenarrowdesigns.
We are still in need of $8,000 towards our one-time gift goal and $3,000 more in monthly giving.
You can visit our website for more information on giving at www.theamazonnetwork.com/give
Our sweet friends Hugo and Jilma recently welcomed their new baby girl into the world!!
We have a team down right now from long-time supporting church Life Baptist in Las Vegas. Please pray for them as they encourage, teach, and love on our family for the next week.
If you would be interested in coming on a trip to minister to our jungle family as they serve in a difficult region, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
As always, thank you so much to all of you who pray for and give financially towards the work taking place in the Amazon jungle. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more frequent updates! Visit our website for more information about the network.
In His service,
Richard and Ashley Whittemore
